You want to wait 5-6 months to give the skin proper time to heal from surgery. If there were no major complications in the healing process we are ready to get to work. If you are unsure we recommend you contact your surgeon and ask their opinion.
Every client is different, but you may feel little to no pain depending on your surgeries and natural pain tolerance. Worst case scenario it feels like a normal tattoo.
We charge $400 for one (Unilateral) or $600 for both (Bilateral). This includes touch-ups, as well. Many times it is not necessary, but we like our clients to feel secure in the process. You can book here.
Yes! Both surgical and non-surgical procedures of breast reconstruction are covered 100%. The Woman’s Act of 1998 requires insurance to cover post-mastectomy reconstruction, including nipple and areola tattooing. We are not providers so you must pay at the time of the procedure. I give you an itemized receipt that will contain medically appropriate diagnoses and CPT (Billing Codes). You are to submit this to your insurance for reimbursement.
Yes, We are located in a private studio and all appointments are done in a private room.
The best advice is to hydrate properly the day before, no alcohol, and to get a good night's rest. Hydrated skin is big factor in how the pigment absorbs in the flesh and how fast you heal! So stay hydrated. You are going to want to eat a healthy meal 2-3 hrs before your appointment. If you are able to take Ibuprofen we suggest you take it with your meal; it will help with swelling and discomfort. Wear loose clothing. You can bring a bra to wear after your appointment. No bras beforehand as the indents can cause issues with symmetrical placement.
Each appointment varies but make room for about a two hour slot. Upon arrival we will discuss placement and pigment choices. After we are set up and you are happy with placement we start tattooing, each side takes about 30 minutes. Feel free to bring family or friends.
After your tattoos are complete you will be bandaged. You want to wait about 2 hours before removing the bandages.
After bandages are removed, using your finger tips, wash with with soap and warm water. To avoid irritation we don’t want you using anything rough such as a cloth or a sponge.
After the area is clean pat dry with clean towel then apply a thin layer of Aquaphor, rub it in like lotion. It should not be shiny or tacky at all. Repeat the process 3 times a day for at least 5 days, if you can use it through your whole healing process (3 weeks) even better. Some clients don’t like it because it is an ointment and feels a little greasy. If that is the case after 5 days you can switch to a unscented lotion like Aveeno, Cetaphil, or Lubriderm. For the first 5 days do not let water hit the tattoos directly in the shower, it is okay for water to run over them for a short period of time but nothing direct.
Anywhere from 5 to 8 days you will begin peeling in small portions, it may be a little itchy but please don’t scratch. Just give it a little pat around the area.
After it is done peeling the tattoo will lighten up so continue using lotion. For most people it takes 3 weeks to completely heal. At 4-5 weeks the pigment will have settled and you will see what the colors of your tattoo will look like.
In 5-7 days if area is red, very sensitive, or warm to touch please call us and we will direct you further.
The first 3 weeks of healing is crucial to how your tattoos will look for a life time so, please follow the routine unless directed otherwise.
